Haunted by Daylight's back and we've made some changes based on your feedback:

When it came to the Void, many of you shared that it didn't always feel worth it to go there, from the lack of looping opportunities for Survivors to Killers feeling it hurt gen pressure. To help bring the action to YOU, we've removed the Void and brought pieces of it into the core map

It's Halloween season, so we're leaning into the seasonally-appropriate orange hues and lighting

We know you like jump scares, so getting energy from a Void Portal can open you up to a surprise attack

Check out all the details below and let us know what you think, especially the lighting change!

HAUNTED BY DAYLIGHT SCORING EVENTS

There has been some adjustments to Scoring Events from the this Haunted by Daylight Event. What's changing?

We're removing unique Score Events for seasonal event hooks and gens. In the past during events, you would get both the regular AND the event-specific Score Event when hooking a Survivor or repairing a gen. Now, you'll only get the standard Score Events when completing these actions, no matter which queue you play.

To compensate for this, we've increased the value of many Haunted by Daylight Score Events and adjusted the value of standard hook and gen Score Events. While you will likely see lower Bloodpoint rewards for hook states and gen completion during this event, interacting with Haunted by Daylight features will be more lucrative.

Balancing this out in the long run, the adjusted hook and gen score events are higher than the previous average and are here to stay across all other queues!

Why's it changing?

As we introduce characters who may interact with core game mechanics in different ways, it can impact how Score Events are tracked (or in this case, wouldn't register) when you change from a regular hook or gen to event-themed ones.

We decided to use this as an opportunity to streamline Score Events, clearly distinguishing between event actions (i.e. kicking pumpkins) and core actions (i.e hooking a Survivor), while also giving these core actions a little more Bloodpoint oomph in the long run.

Hello everyone 👋

We have created a new channel specifically for a Q&A for upcoming livestreams - so your chance to be able to ask questions and we answer them live on stream. We cannot promise to answer all the questions and this is a permanent channel so if we've not answered a question this time then in one of the following streams. https://discord.com/channels/153566829380370432/1559572349106520156 Naturally, upcoming new content is going to be offlimits - we will not give spoilers on future chapters.

Looking forward to reading your questions!

Matchmaking System Update

Since the release of the 10.1.0 update, which introduced our new MMR system, we've been closely monitoring matchmaking data and player feedback. Many of you have reported matches feeling unbalanced, with players of widely varying skill levels and playtimes being matched together.

The launch of the new MMR system required a global reset to all players' ratings, after which we expected players to quickly settle into ratings that reflected their skill level. Unfortunately, as our players have highlighted, that didn't happen as intended. After investigating, we identified a matchmaking parameter that was unintentionally broadening the range of potential opponents and teammates.

Adjusting Streak Weighting

This parameter relates to win and loss streaks. Originally, consecutive wins or losses would expand a player's matchmaking range, putting them into matches where the amplified impact on MMR would help them reach their appropriate rating more quickly. However, the configuration we used led to an overexaggerated increase in rating variance and a skill mix in matches that was wider than intended. We adjusted this parameter late last week to lower the weight that win and lose streaks have on MMR.

Early results are promising, showing less variance in player skill levels and an improvement in line with our expectations. We'll continue to monitor and validate matchmaking performance throughout the weeks ahead and encourage you to share your experiences here to support our ongoing investigation.

A Reminder on the MMR Reset

It's important to note that some players are still calibrating after the global reset in August. For example, if you haven't played as The Unknown since, your rating is not accurately set to reflect your skill level when playing as that Killer. Your first few matches with The Unknown are likely to feel unbalanced, but you should settle into your natural range. This is the case for each Killer as you progress through the roster.

Looking Forward

This change isn't a silver bullet, but it's an important first step of many toward the matchmaking experience we're working to achieve. The team is actively monitoring how this fix impacts matchmaking over time and is committed to making further adjustments as we investigate longer-term improvements to the system.

We appreciate your patience, and most of all, we appreciate your feedback! It was integral to identify last week's fix. Thank you for being on this journey with us, and we'll keep you informed as our matchmaking system continues to evolve.
